Library Summer Reading Program 2017: "Build a Better World"

The Sampson-Clinton Public Library invites children from rising kindergartners to sixth graders to "Build a Better World" during the 2017 Summer Reading Program (SRP). The SRP will run June 17 - July 31, 2017. The SRP will begin on June 17th with a Kick-off program at J.C. Holliday Library at 10 am, featuring "ScienceTellers"!!!

How the Program works:

  • Children in rising Kindergarten through sixth grades can register for the program from June 17th through the end of July.
  • Each child will receive a logbook to record either minutes or the titles of books he or she will read this summer.
  • You and your child will sign a contract to decide your goal, whether in minutes or in number of books.
  • When your child completes the goal, he/she will bring back the log to exchange it for a reward bag and certificate!
We also will be offering one 1-hour activity program at 2:30 at our libraries (Clinton on Mondays, Garland on Wednesdays, Newton Grove on Fridays, and Roseboro on Thursdays) for five weeks beginning June 26th:

June 26-30:
Farmers build our county. Pig corralling, egg gathering, horse shoes and more!!

July 3-7:
Bees build our farms. Della King from Cooperative Extension will show off real beekeeping rigs.

July 12-16:
Insects build our woods. Wiggle like worms; race spiders; and make some bug bookmarks with us.

July 17-21:
Frogs build in ponds. What a chance to swat at some bubbles like frogs catch flies? Come see how!

July 24-28:
Birds build everywhere! We’ll make bird feeders and chow down on Dr. Bird Cake for our last bash.

The library welcomes all children. We will continue to give out reward bags and completion certificates until August 18.
