Free COVID-19 Tests Available for NC Households through June 2023

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services announced a change to the Project Access COVID Tests program (Project ACT) that will allow all North Carolina households to request free, at-home COVID-19 tests through June 30, 2023. Residents are encouraged to order additional free tests while supplies last. For news details, please see here.

COVID-19 Testing Kiosk

Free PCR testing for COVID-19 is now available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through a testing kiosk at Sampson County Health Department.

The testing kiosk dispenses a test kit that includes a nasal swab, like other at-home tests, and instructions on collecting the specimen. Once the specimen is collected, it is safely packaged back into the kit and placed in the kiosk. The specimens are picked up daily and sent to an accredited lab for PCR testing. There is no out-of-pocket cost for the tests provided through the kiosk, but for those individuals with insurance, their insurance will be billed for the test. In many cases, individuals will receive notification of their test results by email or text within 48 hours of specimen collection. Antigen (rapid) tests will be available soon.
