The This will be the first public park on property owned by In 2002 a
citizen expressed an interested in donating a tract of land in the Roseboro
area for development of a countywide park. In 2003 the county held public meetings
within the community to get ideas on the development of parks
countywide. Based on the public
meetings, citizens indicated they would like to see walking trails, picnic
areas, outdoor basketball court, swimming pool, community recreation and
fitness center. Our plans are to develop a 20-acre site into a district
park that would meet the needs of future as well as present generations by
promoting and encouraging public participation that will increase outdoor
recreational opportunities for the entire county. Once all phases are completed the
proposed site will include a walking trail, lighted baseball fields,
concession/restroom, lighted multi-purpose fields, picnic shelters with
grills, restroom building, parking and an activity plaza (including a skate
park, splash pad, playground, outdoor basketball, and community recreational
center). We are seeking
funding in the amount of $250,000 to match a $500,000 state grant for
development of Phase-I, which will provide new outdoor recreation
opportunities for the community. Phase-I will include
a walking trail, playground, 3 lighted baseball fields (which serve
multi-purpose use for soccer and other field sports), concession/ restrooms,
picnic shelters with grills, bocce court, and horseshoe pits. We feel
that once this project is complete we will be able to improve the quality of
life for all citizens of |
